A powerful video highlighting the poetry of Maya Osborne. As a person of heavily mixed heritage, she highlights the struggles in poetry of being a quadroon in a Black & White world!

Her story highlights the identity crisis many if not all persons of mixed heritage go through as a byproduct of their parents stepping out on their individual cultures and heritage.

Self identifying a Black, Maya's white father is forced to confront an issue that he created, an issue he never fathomed he would face. That he created a child who is forced by the pressures of a polarized society to embrace one side of her heritage and culture, while rejecting the other!

I look forward to the discussion in the comment section.

Sadly the story highlights the trauma parents cause their children when they step out of heritage and culture. A true tragedy of never feeling or being fully accepted while being the other...
