🗣 Pray for me that I don’t get fired. I’m not in the mood nor will I pretend to be sad. This is from the principle of my school.

{Dear Staff,
It is with a heavy, unsettled, and very sad heart that I write to you today. The events that we all lived yesterday were beyond anything I ever imagined could happen in the United States. As most of you know, I am originally from Chile, and came to the US as a middle school child. My parents made the decision to move our family – 6 children ages 13 to 4 months, because of political unrest in our country. Coups, military or others, are not uncommon in many countries in Latin America. This is one reason, I believe, many of us have come to the US, to escape the unrest, socially and financially that impact many around the world. I have always shared with my family, here and in Chile, that something that brings great comfort to me here is the stability and smoothness associated with which ever party/government is elected…until yesterday. I feel like my whole world was shaken, and I could not believe what I was seeing on the news, reading and hearing from others. How did we get here? So, I pray that you are able to process what happened with others – it helps. I would like to offer some opportunities for us, as a school to come together and share our thoughts and feelings. I am sending out some dates/times when we can meet, if you are interested/available, just to talk, and support each other:
Thursday, January 7: 1:30pm
Thursday, January 7: 4:30pm
Friday, January 8: 10am
Friday, January 8: 3pm

I’m rejoicing, I tell my children to rejoice. 🗣
