It's another Wellness Wednesday. If you are a member of Generation X and older, you should be able to relate to the importance of stretching. Stretching is a simple but effective way to keep your muscles and joints healthy and flexible, especially as you age. As you get older, first thing in the morning is highly recommended. This provides mobility. Some of the top stretches that are recommended include the plank for the entire body, lying on your back and pulling one leg at a time to your abdomen as well as hip rotations, however; the # 1 full-body workout takes us back to the old days. Are you ready? It is the full squat, much like the indigenous people. I recall gardening as a youth, and the easiest way was to position myself in a squat. Check out the image. This is one of the simplest and most effective ways to work out your entire body while stretching. As a beginner, lean against the wall for support and slowly make your way down. Try it daily, and eventually, you will be going back to basics.
