Her story highlights the identity crisis many if not all persons of mixed heritage go through as a byproduct of their parents stepping out on their individual cultures and heritage.

Self identifying a Black, Maya's white father is forced to confront an issue that he created, an issue he never fathomed he would face. That he created a child who is forced by the pressures of a polarized society to embrace one side of her heritage and culture, while rejecting the other!

Sadly the story highlights the trauma parents cause their children when they step out of heritage and culture. A true tragedy of never feeling or being fully accepted while being the other...
